                                         Slaty-blue Flycatcher

The Slaty-blue Flycatcher (Ficedula tricolor) is in the Muscicapidae family. It is common in the Himalayas, North-East India, South-East Asia, ranging across Bangladesh, Bhutan, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Thailand and Vietnam. Its natural habitat is sub-tropical or tropical moist montane forests. It is an altitudinal migrant, making post-breeding descent to lower levels. It breeds in sub-alpine shrubberies, bush-covered hills, Its food includes small invertebrates, in particular, centipedes, midges and beetles. Usually it is solitary in nature.

                                   Rufous-bellied Niltava

The Rufous-bellied Niltava (Niltava sundara) is a species of bird in the Muscicapidae family. It is found in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Thailand. Its natural habitats are sub-tropical or tropical moist forests and sub-tropical or tropical moist montane forests.

                    Black-throated Tit

The Black-throated Tit (Aegithalos concinnus) is a very small passerine bird in the family Aegithalidae. The species has six currently recognised sub-species. All sub-species have a medium length tail, a black throat and a black “bandit mask” around the eye. It ranges from the foothills of the Himalayas, stretching across Northern India through Nepal, Bhutan, Northern Burma, Vietnam and Taiwan. It lives in open broadleaf forests, as well as, in pine forests, generally occurring in middle altitudes. The species feeds on small insects and spiders, as well as, small seeds, fruits and berries.

                         Red Junglefowl

The Red Junglefowl (Gallus gallus) is a tropical member of the Phasianidae family. It is thought to be ancestral to the domestic chicken, with some hybridization with the grey junglefowl. The Red Junglefowl was first domesticated some five thousand years ago in Asia, then taken around the Globe, and the domestic form is kept globally as a very productive food source of both meat and eggs. The Indian Red Junglefowl (G.g.murghi) occurs in North and North-East India, adjacent Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh.

                     Common Hill Myna

The Common Hill Myna (Gracula religiosa) is a stocky jet-black myna, with bright orange-yellow patches of naked skin and fleshy wattles on the side of its head and nape. It is most vocal at dawn and dusk, when it is found in small groups in forest clearings high in the canopy. Both sexes can produce an extraordinarily wide range of loud calls – whistles, wails, screeches and gurgles, sometimes melodious and often very human-like in quality. This myna is a resident breeder from Kumaon Himalayas in India, East through Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh, the lower Himalayas, terai and foothills up to 2000 metres ASL.

                      Mistle Thrush

The Mistle Thrush (Turdus viscivorus) is a bird common to much of Europe, Asia and North Africa. It is a year-round resident in much of its range. Vagrant birds have occered in the Sikkim Himalayas. Found in open woods, parks, hedges and cultivated land the Mistle Thrush feeds on a wide variety of invertebrates, seeds and berries.

                           Great Barbet

The Great Barbet (Megalaima virens) is an Asian barbet. Barbets are a group of near passerine birds with a world-wide tropical distribution. They get their name from the bristles which fringe their heavy bills. The Great Barbet is a resident breeder in the lower-to-middle altitudes of the Himalayas, ranging across Northern India, Nepal and Bhutan and some parts of South-East Asia as far away as Laos. It is a species of broadleaf evergreen woodlands at 600-2565 metres altitude. It nests in a tree hole. This is the largest barbet at 31-33 cm (12-13 inches) in length and weighs between 192-295 gms.

                            White Rumped Shama

The White Rumped Shama (Copsychus malabaricus) is a small passerine bird of the family Muscicapidae. Native to densely vegetated habitats in the India sub-continent and South-East Asia, its popularity as a cage-bird and songster has led to it being introduced elsewhere. The White Rumped Shama is shy and somewhat crepuscular but very territorial. The territories include a male and female during the breeding season, with the males defending the territory averaging 0.09 ha. in size, but each sex may have different territories when they are not breeding.

                    Slender-billed Scimitar Babbler

The Slender-billed Scimitar Babbler (Pomatorhinus superciliaris) is a species of bird in the Timaliidae family. It uses the unusually long bill for probing crevices for food. It is found in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Myanmar, Nepal and Vietnam. Its natural habitat is sub-tropical or tropical moist montane forests.

                                             Maroon Oriole

The Maroon Oriole (Oriolus traillii) is a species of bird in the Oriolidae family, ranging across the Indian sub-continent and South East Asia. It is found in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Taiwan, Thailand, Tibet and Vietnam. Its natural habitat is sub-tropical or tropical moist lowland forests. Colouration varies somewhat across the range, with those in the Indian sub-continent having duller colours and those in South East Asia having brighter colours, also tending to somewhat reddish tones.

                      Red-headed Bullfinch

The Red-headed Bullfinch (Pyrrhula erythrocephala) is a species of finch in the Fringillidae family, found all across the Himalayas and adjacent highlands. It is found in Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Tibet. Its natural habitat is temperate forests.

                        Grey-headed Starling

The Grey-headed Starling (Sturnia malabarica) is a member of the starling family of perching birds. It is a resident or partially migratory species found in wooded habitats in India and South East Asia. The species name is after the distribution of a former sub-species in the Malabar region. Like most starlings, the Grey-headed Starling is fairly omnivorous, eating fruit, nectar and insects. They fly in tight flocks and often rapidly change directions with great synchronicity.

                      Hoary-throated Barwing

The Hoary-throated Barwing (Actinodura nipalensis) is a species of bird in the Leiothrichidae family. It is found in the Northern parts of the Indian sub-continent, primarily in the Eastern Himalayas, and it ranges across Bhutan, India, Tibet and Nepal. Its natural habitats are temperate forests and sub-tropical or tropical moist montane forests.

                       Yellow-bellied Fantail

The Yellow-bellied Fantail (Chelidorhynx hypoxantha) is also known as the Yellow-bellied Fairy Fantail. It used to be placed in the family of the fantails (Rhipiduridae), but DNA analysis has shown it to be a close relative of the Fairy Flycatcher. It is therefore now placedin the revalidated monotypic genus Chelidorhynx. It is found in the Himalayas from Kashmir to Bhutan & North-East India /Assam.

                     Mendel’s Leaf Warbler

The Mendel’s Leaf Warbler is an allopatric speciation of Hume’s Warbler (Phylloscopus hume). It occurs on the Eastern Tibetan Plateau and migrates over the Himalayas to winter in India and adjacent regions. The species has also been recorded in the Kutch region. This bird is not shy, although its arboreal lifestyle and cryptic colours make it difficult to observe. It is constantly in motion. Like most “Old World” warblers, this small passerine is insectivorous. It builds its nests on the ground.

                                Orange-flanked Bush Robin

The Orange-flanked Bush Robin is a small passerine bird in the family Muscicapidae. This bird and its related species are often called chats. It is a migratory insectivorous species breeding in mixed coniferous forests with undergrowth in Northern Asia and North-Eastern Europe. It winters mainly in South eastern Asia, in the Indian sub-continent, the Himalayas, Taiwan and Northern Indo-china.
